Amazon Wants To Make A God Of War Television Series
Deadline is an making report that Amazon is currently in talks to turn the PlayStation series god of War into a television series. While neither Sony nor Amazon was able/want to confirm the news without an official announcement. Deadline’s report states that the show will be overseen by “The Expanse creators/executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. And The Wheel of Time Rafe. Judkins as well as Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. Aho collaborate on all series based on PlayStation games.
While there was a ton god of War games released in the last 17 years. I believe that any series based on 2022 games will take most of its creative ideas – at least in terms of pitch and tone – from the 2018 game and its upcoming sequel.
The deal, if it does go into production, would be the latest entry into what is turning into a gold rush for video game-to-TV adaptations that have seen other PlayStation series such as Last of us (HBO) and twisted metal (also Amazon), the first one is now in full swing, filming has been underway since 2021.
Mass Effect
Then comes Mass Effect (also Amazon), Resident Evil (Netflix) and Fallout (again Amazon), not to mention the big Halo series from Paramount, which will debut later this month. And that’s just the series! We got unknown movie last month and Netflix hopes to make bioshock movie sometime in the future as well.
It’s easy to see why production companies and movie and TV studios are now rushing into video games. As books and recent comics have shown, adaptations can be safe money as they attract loyal fans. And many of these video games either have large fan bases or have created their own unique. Compelling stories that are perfect for the small screen. Success Witcher on Netflix, which, let’s be honest, gets more knowledge from The Witcher 3 than a series of books probably helped too.
