Betrayal at House on the Hill third edition teased by Avalon Hill
Wizards of the Coast Avalon Hill has released a trailer announcing the upcoming third edition. Betrayal at the house on the hill.
Released earlier this week on Twitter by Avalon Hill and Hasbro Pulse. YouTube channel, the trailer for the third edition of the beloved co-op board game offers little concrete information about a release date or improvements and additions to past editions of the game. The second edition of the game fixed several bugs found in the original edition, most notably moving the “underground lake” from the house’s attic to its basement, and adding new items and eight new hideouts while removing eight old ones.
Originally developed by Mike Selinker based on a game by Bruce Glassco and published in 2004. Betrayal is a cooperative exploration game set in the haunted house of the same name. Players take turns drawing from a pile of random tiles as they traverse the various floors of the house in search of items and improve their stats.
The game’s defining feature is its eponymous twist, in which at some point during the hour-long game session, a “hunt” is triggered and one of the players becomes a traitor. The traitor must then leave the room, read a completely different manual to understand the nature of their new play role, and then return to the table with the goal of preventing other players from escaping the house.
In addition to the original 2004 edition and its 2010 sequel, Avalon Hill has released several expansions and spin-offs. Betrayal at the house on the hill including 2016 Widow’s walk2017 Betrayal at Baldur’s Gateand 2018 Betrayal Legacy.
