The Switch was supposed to see the release of The Chinese Room’s latest game, Little Orpheus, today. However, the studio announced that they would be delaying the game’s launch due to “recent events in the world,” with no new date offered.

The British studio, part of the Sumo Digital group, made the announcement on Twitter yesterday afternoon:

First released on Apple Arcade back in 2020, this charming little side-scrolling platformer tells the story of a Soviet cosmonaut in 1962 who fell into a volcano and went missing for three years.

Our friends at Eurogamer praise the game for its “color, charm and delightful dose of humor,” but due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine involving Russia, The Chinese Room has decided to delay the release.

Various corners of the video game industry came out in support of humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, with several studios making statements and donations to various charities. We’ve also seen studios cut their press and advertising; You may remember that The Pokémon Company revealed the conflict as the reason it’s recent Direct wasn’t heavily promoted ahead of time.

Similar delays and muted announcements are likely to continue in the coming weeks.
