Deadpool 3 Will Be Directed By Stranger Things Producer Shawn Levy

Ever since Disney acquired many of Fox’s properties, including all of Marvel’s mutants. One of the biggest questions worrying Marvel fans has been about the fate of Deadpool. An R-rated character now owned by a PG-rated company. Despite confirmations from star Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, the film seems elusive. Still, the cast is slowly growing, and Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy talks with director Ryan Reynolds. It was confirmed on Twitter after the story.

Voltron style

Levy will again team up in Voltron style with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds to make the film happen. While Levy is probably best known for Stranger Things, this will be Ryan Reyolds’ third car he drives. Previously, Levy directed Free Guy and the newly released Netflix sci-fi adventure Project Adam, star Reynolds.

The first Deadpool film, which set box office records for an R-rated movie, was directed by Tim Miller (Terminator: Dark Fate). John Wick co-director David Leitch’s second film.

Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Laugeleline, who worked extensively on Bob’s Burgers animated series, were announced as writers in November 2020 and are reportedly still on board.

Deadpool 3

The next question Disney will have to answer for fans, now that we know Deadpool 3 will happen, is whether it will get the coveted R rating. Kevin Feige said last January that he would indeed get that rating. But previous Disney CEO Bob Iger was more hedging at the time, saying “there could be room for more.” Marvel Studios films stuck firmly to the PG rating until The Eternals, which received a PG-13 rating for “some language and momentary sexuality.” Fans generally see Deadpool as needing an R rating to reach its full potential, and the first two films have earned an R rating.

Disney has yet to announce a release date for the film.
