Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Finally Let Us See Xivu Arath, But It Was Easy To Miss

The sibling’s Osmium, Oryx, Savathun, and Ziva Arath featured in the Book of Sorrows is a major part of Destiny’s story. Players killed Oryx in the original Destiny Taken King expansion and thwarted Savathun’s plans in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, but the hive god of war Zivu Arata has grown in importance over the past few seasons. Players hear her name more often after the Fall 2020 Hunt, and finally, a cutscene from the Witch Queen campaign provided the first glimpse of her character design.

While Ikora’s narrative laid the groundwork for the Witch Queen’s story, the image showed the siblings before they became the Hive as a young Krill going by the names Xi Ro, Sathona, and Aurash. But that image quickly changed to show the three standing straight, like the villainous Hive Gods players would recognize. The only unfamiliar character was Xivu Arath, whose head has been changed from the Hive Knight design to more closely resemble the Jade Rabbit’s insignia, distinguishing her from the Hive enemies that players typically see.

The left image shows Xi Rho, Sathona, and Aurash, while the right image shows Zivu Arat, Savathun, and Oryx.

In the “Ghosts” mission of the “Witch Queen” campaign, the statue in the Temple of the Wrathful in Savathun, dedicated to Ziv Arat, had only legs visible, and the rest of it looked broken. In regards to Savathoon’s design, Bungie mentioned that Savathoon’s character model was not completed when developing Season of the Lost, so players only saw Savathoon in her crystal cocoon. This may be why players weren’t able to see the full War Hive God Statue, so for now, this glimpse of Zivu Arata is all players have.

Players complete the Witch Queen campaign and work on end-game content. Preparations are underway for a new raid called “The Oath of the Apprentice”, which starts on March 5th.
