Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Memory Alembic Guide: How To Find Qualichor And Finish The Secret Mission

Explore the throne world of Savatûn in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen for a while, and you might stumble across some special, glowing Hive enemies or explore the curious corpse of a dead scorn chieftain. These interactions, if you complete them, will eventually lead you to a special secret mission called the Memory Chaser. After completing it, you need to open all the secrets of the throne world and complete the seal of the Triumph of the Witch Queen, but you will have to figure out how to do it yourself.

Or you would have to figure it out, but we’re here to help. Although Memory Alembic’s mission is dumb, solving the case of a dead Scorn isn’t too difficult if you know where to look for clues. In the mission, you have to hunt down and destroy several special Hive executioner enemies, which will earn you Triumph and a special resource called Qualicor. You need a fair amount of Qualicor to advance the quest, and it’s not immediately clear how to get it.

Below you will find everything you need to know about Qualikor, Hive Executioners, Hive Inquisitors, and the Memory Alembic quest in order to complete it.

How to find the Alembic Memory Quest

First, you will need to increase your reputation with Finch in the Throneworld of Savathoon to unlock Deepsight Tier 2. Without it, you won’t be able to see some key secrets or complete the quest reliably, so keep doing bounties, patrols, and public events in the Throneworld for level up.

Once you reach Deepsight level 2, start looking around the various Throneworld patrol areas for and interacting with Deepsight nodes. While most of them will lead you to a nearby chest with some flickering weapon drops and a little throne world rep, you will eventually find one that reveals the Despicable Chieftain’s nearby body. Look for his crumpled shell right next to the Deepsight node.

Deepsight nodes sometimes reveal the bodies of despicable chieftains. Interact with them to find the trail and hunt down their killers.

Use the Interaction button to study the Warchief, and your Deep Vision will show a green path leading through the Throneworld. Where you are going will depend on where you start:

  • The bog – the path leads to the Alluring Curtain
  • Miasma – the path leads to the Witch Echo
  • Fluorescent Channel – The trail leads to the Royal Bailey.

Once you find the trail, follow it carefully – it will eventually lead you to a small object on the ground, which will give you an interactive option to “inspect the wreckage.” Do this, and you’ll get a buff called On the Path that will make the green path visible until you complete the objective without requiring Deepsight.

Each Throneworld location has several Deepsight nodes that include Scorn corpses, so you don’t have to search for a specific node to find a trail – just look around until you stumble upon it. However, it is worth noting that the patrol area where the trail begins changes daily, and you can only walk one trail per day.

Defeat the Hive Executioner

The trail will lead you to the Hive Lightbearer. Kill him and find the chest he drops to earn some Qualicor and start the Memory Alembic quest.

Follow the green path into the Throneworld and eventually, it will lead you to your destination: the Hive Lightbearer. These are the Savathoon Special Agents – the idea here is that they are looting all over the Throneworld, taking down important targets for the Witch Queen, like that Scorn you found. Expect a tough fight similar to that of the Hive Lightbearers who roam the patrol areas as important targets.

Destroy the Lightbearer and destroy his Ghost and a chest will drop, so make sure you find it and open it before leaving. These chests tend to spawn in corners or other hard-to-reach places, so look around carefully. Your reward will include Qualicor; once you find them, return to Finch to start Quest “Distillation of memory”.

Fight the inquisitors

Find and defeat these glowing white Hive soldiers - the Hive Inquisitors - multiple times to get another chest of Qualicor.
Find and defeat these glowing white Hive soldiers – the Hive Inquisitors – multiple times to get another chest of Qualicor.

There is a second, less reliable, and more difficult way to start this quest – find a group of Hive Inquisitors in the public patrol areas in the throne world. Watch out for a pop-up message in the bottom left corner of the screen that says there are Hive Inquisitors in your “sector” – this means you’re in an area where Inquisitors roam. You’ll want to find them quickly, as this entire event is timed and won’t last long.

Look for a group of Hive enemies that glow with bright white auras. When you see them, attack the group and take them out. When they all die, a stronger lieutenant enemy will appear; Knight, Wizard, or Ogre. Eliminate that enemy as well and you’ll see the same “Hive Inquisitors in your sector” message, notifying you that a new, stronger group of Inquisitors has arrived. These guys are usually pretty close to where you found the last group, but not always – hop on your sparrow and ride to find them quickly.

You'll need to look for the Lightbearers, which spawn when you've killed enough waves of Inquisitors, but can usually be found near the center of a given patrol zone.

In total, you will have to kill three groups of inquisitors, each of which is more difficult than the previous one. When the third lieutenant is destroyed, you will receive a message about the appearance of Inquisitor Lightbearers. Look for them in a fairly central spot on the patrol zone – it should be close to where you fought the last group. It’s a hard fight, three Carriers of Light at once, one of each type. They are also surrounded by elite-level Hive Acolytes, so if you can, this fight is best handled with the help of other players.

Defeating the three Lightbearers will create a chest for your troubles, and inside it, you will find Qualicor, who will start you on the Memory Alembic quest as above. The Inquisitors will have more to do later.

How to advance the quest “Memory Alembic”

Once you have Qualikor, you will begin a new endeavor: collect enough Qualikor to create Exquisite Qualicor. Each time you kill a Hive Executioner, like the first time, you gain Qualikor, advancing approximately 12% in a step. This means that you need eight hits of Qualicor to complete this step and it will appear for several days.

You'll get roughly 12% progress for every Qualicor you get from each Executioner or Inquisitor chest, so you'll need to open a total of eight chests.
You’ll get roughly 12% progress for every Qualicor you get from each Executioner or Inquisitor’s chest, so you’ll need to open a total of eight chests.

To complete the Qualicor stage, you need to jump into the throne world for several days in a row, hunting down the executioners. As already mentioned, the part of the patrol zone where the Executioner’s trail can be found changes daily from Quagmire to Miasma. to the fluorescent channel.

If you’re hanging around the throne world anyway, you can also hunt down the Hive Inquisitors for an extra Qualicor. However, they are harder to find – Inquisitors spawn in one of the three zones and only at seemingly long intervals, so if you’re wandering back and forth hoping someone will show up, you’ll probably have to wait a while. It’s also unclear if you can kill more than one group of Inquisitors per day to earn Qualicor. We’ve confirmed that you can definitely only hunt one Executioner per day, and you can also kill Inquisitors on the same day as an Executioner, so the minimum Qualicor you can earn per day is 25%. You also need to kill all three executioners to unlock Ascended triumph of the bounty hunter.

Once you’ve collected a full batch of Qualicor, return to Finch. You will complete the Memory Alembic quest by talking to him, which will give you Purified Qualicor, but no indication of what you should do with it. You need this resource to open a certain chest and get a reward for all this work.

How to find the hangman’s treasure

The final stage of the Qualicor saga requires finding and defeating the Inquisitors. As mentioned above, you can find them randomly in Throneworld Patrol Zones – look for a message that Hive Inquisitors are in your sector, and then look for a group of Hive enemies that glow with white auras.

After defeating all the Inquisitors and their Lightbearers, a chest will appear, which requires a Purified Qualicor to open. Look for a new Deepsight node near where you killed the Inquisitors to get to it.

You will need to kill all three groups of Inquisitors and their lieutenants, and then defeat the three Lightbearer Hive enemies that appear at the end before time runs out. You can ignore the Acolytes that spawn with them as long as you kill all three Lightbearers. Once you do that, a new Deepsight Resonance node will appear nearby, depending on where you had your last fight. Interact with the node and it will lead you to the nearest chest, which requires Refined Qualikor to open – Executioner’s Treasure. Good news: you finally have purified kvalikor.

Open the chest to get some more random Throneworld loot (although it’s not clear if they’re any special). This will also tick Triumph of the Executioner’s Treasure.

Complete the Predator of Predators Triumph.

So far, you’ve done everything you need to do with Memory Alembic and Qualicor, but there’s one more thing left to do: hunt Executioners. You will need to bring down bundle Executioners and open their chests to unlock Predator from Predators Triumph. You also can’t count Inquisitor chests in this total, which means you can only kill one Executioner per day to reach the amount you need.

All these Triumphs are big steps towards completion. Chief Inspector Triumph, which requires a total of 350 triumph points in the Secrets section of the Throneworld tab. Earn it and you will get a Fundamental ghost shell which you will need to complete Seal of Throneworld Triumph.
