Elden Ring Has Had a Huge Launch in the US

According to the latest NPD figures, Elden Ring is officially the top-selling game in the US in 2022, with a massive launch. FromSoftware’s latest release is the second-best launch in the past twelve months, behind only Call of Duty: Vanguard. This means that its February sales were better than those of Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, and other top games of 2021. Elden Ring is also the fifth best-selling game in the past twelve months, despite only being released two weeks ago on February 25th.

PlayStation players favored their latest exclusive, Horizon: Forbidden West, as Elden Ring took second place on Sony consoles.

However, it still held the top spot on Xbox and Steam, where it grew in popularity day by day during its opening weekend before becoming the sixth most played game of all time on the platform.

Elden Ring has turned out to be something of a cultural phenomenon, with crazy ads, a Twitch streamer chat playing while sweeping, someone using a Ring Fit Nintendo Switch controller to defeat a boss, and even having their candy.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said, “Elden Ring is a massive iteration of what FromSoftware started with the Souls series, bringing relentlessly challenging combat into an incredible open world that gives us the freedom to choose our path.”
