Elden Ring: How To Reverse The Frenzied Flame Ending

There are quite a few endings in Elden Ring, and almost all of them require you to invest heavily in certain character quests or discover well-hidden secrets. From Software ensures that you have plenty of leeway in the game’s ending, as you can choose between any of the endings you’ve unlocked after defeating the final boss. That is, unless you have traveled very deep under the Leindell capital and decided to accept the brand of Three Fingers. This locks you into the finale of Frenzied Flame, which means you won’t have the option to choose how things play out after the final boss. Luckily, you can cancel this blockage by using a special item in a specific location, and we’re going to walk you through the process.

Complete Millicent’s long quest and get Mikella’s Needle.

In order to get the required item to change the ending of Frenzied Flame, you first need to complete Millicent’s long and winding quest. This quest starts by talking to Gauri in East Kalida and sets you on a game-spanning adventure that won’t end until you gain access to the additional area of Haligtri.

You can follow our Millicent Quest guide to speed up the process and make sure you meet all the required requirements. Once this is complete and you find yourself in possession of her Pure Golden Needle, you will need to defeat one of the game’s hardest bosses, Malenia, which is Haligtree’s final battle.

Malenia won’t give up easily, but once you’re done with her, rest at the Place of Grace and return to the boss room. In the center of the room, you will find a massive flower, and if you approach it in the right place, you will be prompted to turn the Solid Gold Needle into Michelle’s Needle. However, you can only use this item in one place, so you have a few more adventures before you can cancel this ending.

Kill Dragonlord Placidusax in the Farum Azula Crash.

You will then need to find and almost complete the final Legacy dungeon, Crashing Farum Azula. Start at the place of grace next to the Great Bridge, which is right in front of the dungeon boss, and return by taking the elevator down. Follow the steps down and back out, then walk straight ahead to the edge of the cliff and look down to see some cleverly hidden floating platforms you can jump onto.

Mozi there and drop down to the platforms below.

Make your way along with these platforms until you reach a large piece of debris. On this rubble, you will find a place that will tell you to lie down, at which point you will be teleported to a massive circular boss arena to fight the Dragonlord Placidusax.

If you’ve fought any of the other dragons around the Shattering Farum Azula, you’ll find that the Dragonlord Placidusax is essentially an enhanced version of them. He hits hard and will no doubt test the temperament of many players, but a bit of persistence will ensure he drops soon.

Use Mikella’s Needle on the boss arena.

Whenever you’re ready to change the ending of Frenzied Flame, you have to use Mikella’s Needle in the Dragonlord Placidusax arena. When you do this, you will be free of the “Three Fingers” branding and will be able to access any other endings for which you have completed the requirements. Keep in mind, though, that the needle is a consumable item, so be absolutely sure you don’t want to run through the game with the Raging Flame ending before using it.
