Elden Ring Rya Quest Guide

The Elden Ring Rya quest is a long and dark quest in the twisting depths of the Volcano Manor and one of the demigods of the In-between Lands. Your reward, besides a hefty dose of knowledge, is a talisman that acts as a kind of “hard mode”, increasing your damage taken. However, as is the case with most quests in Elden Ring, completing this requires a lot of time and a lot of patience.

How to start Riya’s quest in Elden Ring: Riya’s location

Ria’s quest starts east of the picturesque Isle of Grace in Liurnia. She is in a stone gazebo next to the telescope marker on the map and asks for your help in finding the stolen necklace. Agree to help her find it and she will vaguely tell you where to look.

Elden Ring Rya Necklace Location

The house where she said the thief was hiding is also nearby. This Boiled Shrimp Hut, northwest of Riya’s starting location and north of scenic Grace Island. The thief sits by the fire and will either give you a necklace for 1000 runes or drop it when you kill him. Whatever your choice, return it to Riya. She will thank you and pass on an invitation to Volcano Manor. This is the last time you see her for a while.

How to get to Volcano Manor

The next phase of Rya’s quest takes place in Volcano Manor, although depending on your route to the Altus Plateau, she may personally escort you there. If you take the Grand Dectus Elevator from Liurnia, Rhya will be waiting for you at the steps behind the giant golems. Talk to her and she will instantly transport you to the estate.

If instead you’ve gone a long way through the tunnels, it seems like the game is skipping that part and forcing you to head to the estate, either via another shortcut or walk there.

Another short cut is in the basement of the Academy in Raya Lukaria, which can be reached by taking the water wheel in an elevator not up, but down. There you will face the Abductor Virgins boss. Being pulled into a metal body will take you to the Chamber of the Inquisition under Volcano Manor. You still have to face the Virgin Snatchers (and win this time), and the path further spits you out into the Hermit Village.

If you’re hiking, head north across Seatwater to the Altus Plateau until you reach Fort Laid’s grace site. Turn left and drive the Torrent through the lava, ignoring the Magma Serpent. The torrent will take damage, but not so much that they disappear before you get to the other side. Continue down the road past the giant bear and you will reach the Hermit Village.

The village is an annoying place with swarms of demihumans, a demihuman chief, and Maggie the demihuman queen. It’s easy to get confused, so if you’re not interested in clearing the area, just jump to the other end. Near the corpse of the sorcerer there is a Place of Grace. Remove the spell Comet Azur from the body, turn around and follow the stone pillar through the abyss.

Maggie attacks with power and magic. It is best avoided if you just want to get to the estate quickly.

Continue following the path up the cliff, then turn left when you reach the crossroads and cross the bridge (turning right will take you into the dungeon). Mount Spiritwind, ignore the boss and rush to the manor. Talk to Tanith, then find Riya in the living room. You will need to agree to join Tanith in order to continue the quest.

How to complete Riya’s quest in Elden Ring

Complete Tanith’s first two requests and speak to Rhya after each one. The second time, Riya is in her true form and mentions the circumstances of her birth as she understands them. Speak to Tanith and then quickly travel to the Site of Grace to reset the area. Talk to Riya again to learn about the strange sounds behind the wall. Talk to Tanith, then exit the lobby and turn right. Hit the wall with the crooked brazier portrait to reveal a hidden path to Volcano Manor.

This will take you through a large prison and you will end up in a town befitting the name Prison Town. It’s full of snake warriors, though for the most part you can run past them if you’re in a hurry. Upon reaching the Guest Hall “Place of Grace”, you can speak to Riya at the Manor again to inquire about her mental breakdown, though it’s not clear if this is required.

Quickly return to the guest room, then keep moving forward. You will reach the Eigley Temple Church and encounter the Skin of the Gods Noble. Retrieve Amnion the Serpent from the altar after defeating the boss, then speak to Rhya again.

Riya is gone

Reload the area and you’ll find Riya is gone. This is about to happen, so talk to Tanith. She will give you the Tonic of Oblivion and ask you to let Riya drink it if the truth about her origin hurts too much.

Quickly return to the Temple of Eigley and take the elevator that started working after the death of the Noble. The path ahead is long but straight. Once you finally find Riya again, you have three options.

Should I give Rye a tonic in Elden Ring?

Riya tells the truth about her birth and asks you to kill her. Don’t do it and refuse to give her the tonic. Defeat Ricard, Lord of Blasphemy, then return to Rhya’s hideout. Talk to her again and refuse to give her the potion. Reload the area, go back to cover, and you’ll find a note explaining that she just needs to find her life path and get Daedikar’s Woe Talisman, which increases the amount of damage you take.

If you give Riya the tonic, Tanith will be pleased, but eventually everyone leaves the estate and Riya is left alone. After you defeat Rickard, she will also disappear and leave a talisman behind. Finally, you can kill her upon request. She will thank you, transform into her true form, and drop the talisman.
