Escape Academy Brings Escape Room Challenge To Consoles, PC, And Game Pass This June
Want to experience the quest without putting on your pants and turning off your game console? Coin Crew Games brings you Escape Academy, a new virtual version of escape rooms from a team with experience in real-world immersive rides. And just like real quests, you can play Escape Academy with a group of friends.
The premise of Escape Academy is simple: it reproduces the tension and puzzle-solving in a real first-person quest room – think I’m expecting you to die, but with more movement and no VR. As the clock ticks at the top of the screen, you’ll have to find your way out, including solving classic puzzles like “which door will move that bookshelf.” The game is set up as a training center for escape professionals to hone their skills, hence the name, and you’ll notice in the trailer that it’s a bit more technologically advanced than you’re probably used to with actual escape games. This is the power of video games.
While it can be played in single-player mode, Escape Academy can also replicate the chaotic party tension of quests with co-op multiplayer in both online and split-screen modes. Friendship can be tested if you can’t agree on a puzzle solution, so you can light soothing incense and drink chamomile tea while you play. Coin Crew Games was founded by Wyatt Bushnell and Mike Mohammed Salih, who have amusement ride experience at companies like Dave & Busters and Disney. If Bushnell’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he is the son of Atari co-founder and Chuck E. Cheese founder Nolan Bushnell.
Escape Academy releases June 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, and PC. At that time, the Xbox versions will be free via Game Pass.
