Final Fantasy 7 remake mod restores Cloud Strife’s OG dress

One of the most infamous Final Fantasy 7 scenes that survived in the remake is when the protagonist Cloud Strife – along with Aeris and Tifa – must wear a beautiful dress to try and win over the slug mafioso Don Corneo. Turns out Cloud looks pretty good in a dress, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake went the extra mile by including three outfits for each character that unlock based on a choice made elsewhere. But one dress was missing: the original.

Now, in one of the funniest mods I’ve ever seen, you can restore Cloud’s PlayStation 1 dress in all its low poly beauty. Mod from Narknon (Thank you TheGamer) imports Cloud’s simple purple dress from the original game and improves the textures, making for an absolutely incredible sight of a character from another era going through a remake of his own game.

Just look at this, even Aeris can’t believe it:

Unsurprisingly, outfits, in general, are the focus of FF7 Remake mods, with a rather depressing number of them doing things like taking off Tifa’s vest or dressing Aeris in a “sexy dress.” There’s something even more interesting: Crisis Core fans might want to pass the whole game for Zachor is Cloud in costume for this game. This is by far the funniest thing anyone has ever done with the game, its only competitor is yet another prankster who turned Barrett’s stupid gun hand into Pistol Mega Man’s Buster.
