Funimation subscribers should cancel their accounts after Crunchyroll deal
If you are a current user of the Funimation anime streaming service, you should cancel your subscription. This is because the anime streaming service will be moving its entire library, including shows, movies, and previously exclusive premieres of upcoming simulcasts, to Crunchyroll, meaning viewers will be able to access both libraries with just one subscription.
Crunchyroll has announced that it will receive all Funimation content on Tuesday. The news follows the acquisition of Crunchyroll by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc from AT&T and Warner Media for $1.175 billion.
According to Crunchyroll, 80 percent of Funimation and Wakanim’s series will be on Crunchyroll by the end of March 2022, with all-new series from the upcoming spring 2022 season streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll. An official FAQ from the company recommends that you cancel your Funimation account if you have subscriptions to both.
If you only have a Funimation subscription, it’s worth switching to Crunchyroll in the end. This way, you’ll be able to see new shows that were previously exclusive to Funimation, in addition to unlocking Crunchyroll deals. At the time of publication, a standard Crunchyroll account costs $7.99 per month (same price as Funimation Premium Plus Plan). The Standard Crunchyroll tier offers unlimited access to the Crunchyroll library, no ads, and single device streaming at the same time.
