Ghostwire: Tokyo gameplay shows it’s more of a magical brawler than a horror game

I have very limited options for horror games, so my first reaction to Ghostwire: Tokyo, a new project from Tango Gameworks’ Evil Within, was: “Eh, I don’t need this stress.” But the more I saw it, the more it interested me.

The New 18-minute gameplay trailer released today by IGN (watch here) really reinforces this impression. It’s definitely weird, but the player character is too powerful to include any real aspect of horror in it. It’s more of a supernatural stealth fight: use your abilities to find the bad guys, sneak up on them and throw your hand.

Of course, there’s a lot more going on here than just fistfights.

This segment also had one of my favorite subtitles of late:

Ghostwriter: Tokyo releases March 25th. Free in-game visual novel Ghostwire: Tokyo – Prelude is available now on Steam.
