Grand Theft Auto 5 Loads Over Twice as Fast on PS5 Than PS4
One of the key features of next-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is faster loading times,
And this is a key advantage that will come to Grand Theft Auto 5 when it is re-released on the latest systems. According to the tests we did here at IGN, Grand Theft Auto 5 loads lightning fast on PlayStation 5, especially when compared to the PlayStation 4 version. Replay Mission loads in about 5 seconds, which is almost 75% faster than on PS4.
It’s especially striking how quickly autosaves load on the PS5 compared to the PS4. On the latest Sony console, GTA 5 loads save files in about 20 seconds, while loading the same file on PS4 takes more than two minutes.
Check out the load time comparison below to see the full results of our tests.
In addition to faster load times, GTA 5 will come with improved visual settings for PS5 and Xbox Series X that include 4K with ray tracing at 30fps or a performance mode focused on upscaling 4K at 60fps. On PS5, GTA 5 will include DualSense haptics and other feedback from Adaptive Triggers, as well as “high-end PC” visuals on consoles, including “increased population and traffic diversity, increased vegetation density, improved lighting quality in shadows, water reflections, and other elements”.
GTA 5 is currently available for pre-download and will cost $9.99 for PS5 for the first three months before going up to $39.99. For Xbox Series X|S, the price will start at $19.99 for the first three months and then increase to $39.99. Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most popular games of the generation, and after almost 10 years, it will be back in stores. But don’t worry, Rockstar has officially confirmed that it’s working on Grand Theft Auto 6, although don’t expect any details on that just yet.
