GTA Online next-gen update save transfers, new car upgrades detailed
Major car theft online competitive and cooperative multiplayer component Grand Theft Auto 5Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as a standalone game on March 15th. On Friday Rockstar Games details new features including a new Career Builder aimed at new players and new race types coming out in “expanded and improved” GTA Online.
As in the single-player part of the game, GTA Online will get a visual upgrade when it comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X: up to 4K resolution, 60fps target, improved texture quality, HDR options and ray tracing.
New Players – GTA Online is now over eight years old and will also benefit from the Career Builder mode, where you can spend GTA$4 million on real estate, vehicles and weapons, as well as a newly designed introduction and tutorial.
GTA Online veterans will be able to transfer their online characters to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions via Rockstar Games Social Club, and upgrade their vehicles at Hao’s Special Works at the Los Santos Car Meet. Hao’s special jobs will unlock new vehicle upgrades, a new racing class, and weekly time trials. Players can even test these newly modified (and faster) vehicles for free.
According to Rockstar, the transition from previous generation consoles to new consoles includes any characters, GTA dollars, progress, stats, vehicles, real estate, weapons, clothing, and player-created missions. And while players can transfer progress between console generations and platforms, Rockstar warns that GTA dollars will only transfer if done on consoles of the same brand (i.e. from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5).
GTA Online will be free to download on PlayStation 5 for the first three months after launch on March 15th. Physical versions Grand Theft Auto 5 as well as Grand Theft Auto Online coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X in April.
