After the gameplay is shown,

the stream will end with some comments from several members of the Avalanche Software team. The game takes place in the same school that was made famous by the Harry Potter books and films. The game is an open-world experience and you’ll see yourself taking control of your very own witch or wizard after they enroll in a wizarding academy in the 1800s. Just remember, Hufflepuff is the best house.

However, it has been a rocky road for the development of the game so far, as Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling has been embroiled in controversy over comments deemed transphobic. After it was speculated that Hogwarts Legacy would be delayed until 2023, it was announced that the game was still in the pipeline for release in 2022 and Rowling had “nothing to do” with the project. Rowling will still receive a share of the profits from sales of Hogwarts Legacy, as she receives royalties “from the intellectual property of Wizarding World in full.”

Gotham Knights, another game published by Warner Bros. Games, is also set to release in 2022 and will emerge from the shadows on October 25th.
