How to respec in Elden Ring

Want to learn how to change stats in Elden Ring? This is a feature of FromSoftware games that allows you to have a method in the world that allows you to redistribute your attributes without having to start the whole game again. In Dark Souls 2, these were the old firekeepers in the hut at the start of the game, but many Soulsborne games don’t have this feature at all.

Luckily, Elden Ring does this, and it’s more important than ever in a game where it seems like some of the hardest late-game Elden Ring bosses require a certain build to even give you a chance to beat them. That, or you could just try out any number of cool weapons you find in the various lands in Between. In this Elden Ring upgrade guide, I’ll explain how to do it and where to find the right item.

How to respec in Elden Ring

To unlock the ability to change the specification, you need to do two things:

  • Defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, at Lukaria’s Paradise Academy in Liurnia.
  • Find a larval tear

After you defeat Rennala, you will be able to interact with her and choose the “rebirth” option. That’s where Tear of the Maggot comes in, and you’ll pay for one of those items every time you want to reallocate. Fortunately, there is no shortage. You just need to know where to look.

Elden Ring Larvae Tears: Where to Find Them

The easiest place to find Grub’s Tear early on is in the Albanauric Village in southern Liurnia, in a large cave nestled in the rock of the lake. Pass here and go up to the village itself. After you have passed Nepheli, you should come to a place with many enemies located around the stone sarcophagi. The tear must be on the body there.

Later in the game, depending on which path you choose, you can get a lot of them. The best source is to kill sentient stone boulders, which you will find in Noxtelle, the Eternal City on the Ainsel River when heading there from the portal on the rise of Rennes as part of Ranny’s Knockron quest.
