In 2022, The Tokyo Game Show Will Once Again Be Held In-Person

For the first time in three yearsThe Tokyo Game Show will open its doors to the public as an in-person event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

In the fall of 2019, everything went as usual at the Tokyo Game Show. After the pandemic broke out, the event moved to only a digital event in 2020. Last year it was online, and for industry representatives, it was in person in much smaller numbers. This year, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the event will be held in a more familiar format.
Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 15 to 18.

“The theme of TGS2022 is “Nothing interferes with the game,” the organizers wrote in the official release. “During these two years, various fun activities have disappeared from our daily lives, but games still brighten up our everyday life. Games will continue to delight everyone now and forever – this year’s theme implies such strong determination.”
However, unlike last year, children will not be allowed there. “Due to the uncertainty of the vaccination situation among young people, elementary school students or young children are not allowed to attend for safety reasons.
Event of this year” explained the TGS organizers. Moreover, only a limited number of tickets will be available, in line with the Japanese government’s policy to prevent the spread of the virus.

The show will still have online elements, including the broadcast of press conferences and simultaneous translation into English. “Other popular programs from last year are also planned for a global audience, such as free trial demos of the latest games to enjoy at home, a virtual tour, and the TGS virtual reality (VR) zone.” The combination of in-person and online should serve the show well.
Ticket information will be announced this summer in mid-July.
