John Romero Releases A New Doom 2 Level, Donating Proceeds To Help People Of Ukraine

Doom designer John Romero is releasing a new Doom II level to help support the people of Ukraine and related humanitarian efforts in the wake of Russia’s invasion of the country.

Romero announced on Twitter that he was releasing a new level for the 1994 game for €5. 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.

The level is called One Humanity, and it is Romero’s first Doom II level since the game was originally released in 1994. Requires an original copy of Doom II and a modern source port. You can buy a new level from Romero’s website here.

After the attacks, Ukraine asked PlayStation, Xbox, and esports organizations to stop supporting Russia. Many film studios have stopped releasing new films in the country. Apple no longer sells any products there.

In addition, the Ukrainian developer GSC Game World announced that the development of Stalker 2 “has gone by the wayside” as the company puts more emphasis on protecting itself and its families at this time.

If you’d like to help the relief effort, we’ve compiled a list of humanitarian organizations such as the Ukrainian Red Cross and UNICEF that you can donate to.
