Kirby Is Getting An Official Concert To Celebrate His 30th Birthday
The 30th anniversary of the Kirby series is approaching, as is the release of the next pink puffer game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land. And it looks like we’re in for a big music festival dedicated to one of Nintendo’s most recognizable and endearing characters. For a moment, we were ready to be disappointed. Nintendo UK shared the Grand opening of the concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the series. And as good as this gig was, we thought that was all we were going to get. Luckily, Kirby’s official account shared his plans for the round guy’s next big holiday a little later (thanks, Nibel). Kirby’s 30th Anniversary Music Festival will take place on August 11 and stream online for free on Kirby’s official YouTube channel! It’s better than Maximum Pomodoro.
The big LED monitor in the hall will also show Kirby moving.
Japan will also get something extra. On April 15, a collection of medals celebrating all things Kirby will be released on the My Nintendo Store. In them, our rosy-cheeked, smiling friend performs all sorts of Kirby-related activities, such as sleeping, surfing the stars, and swimming. Even a medal references his earlier Game Boy design, with slightly sharper hands.

We hope they go west. Otherwise, we might need one of Kirby’s wands to make them come true here. Or just a reasonable shipping budget.
Kirby’s 30th birthday falls on April 27, the release date for Kirby’s Dream Land in Japan. We wonder if we’ll get an annual holiday. Though given the fact that Nintendo didn’t celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Switch, and didn’t even do anything for the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda (even though Skyward Sword HD and Game & Watch were pretty good!), perhaps we shouldn’t expect too much.
