Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Open Tournament Coming Right After Remastered Tracks Drop

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will host an open tournament as soon as the first set of remastered tracks is released into the game.

The North American Open March 2022 will take place from March 25 to 27 and 24. Players will receive free Gold Points to spend on Nintendo eShop. To participate, you need to log in during the tournament and enter the code in the “Search by Code” menu in the “Online Play” > “Tournaments” section. The top eight players each day will receive 2,500 Gold Points, or roughly $25, towards purchases from the online store.

It’s probably no coincidence that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass costs $25. It’s also part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass, which includes games for the N64 and Genesis. As well as Animal Crossing’s Happy Home Paradise expansion for $50/year. The announcement didn’t mention if the new tracks would be part of the event, but that’s questionable as it likely means you’ll have to pay to attend. However, this will bring players back to MK8 exactly at the time that Nintendo wants to promote their Booster Course pass.

The first wave of the Booster Course Pass will be released this Friday, March 18th

It will feature eight remastered tracks, including Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii, Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64, and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour. By the end of 2023, five more waves will come, a total of 48 courses will be added.
