Marvel, Fortnite Teaming Up For Crossover Comic Series
The comic book giant Marvel has announced a new collaboration with Epic Games’ Fortnite for an upcoming five-part comic book crossover titled Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War. The start of the series is scheduled for June this year. The comic’s story follows the inhabitants of Fortnite Island who are “trapped in what seems to be a never-ending war, and only one thing can turn the tide – a crystallized fragment of Zero Point that has been thrown into the Marvel Universe.” A brief comic book synopsis teases teams like Spider-Man and Wolverine with Shuri and “a few fan favorites from Fortnite.” Iron Man has also been mentioned as appearing in the series. No other character names were removed in the release.
“At its core, the series is an adventure story that brings characters from both universes together to go on a treasure hunt in the deepest, darkest depths of the Marvel Universe,” Marvel Comics editor Alanna Smith said in a statement. “This will be the perfect team that will feature the best of Fortnite and Marvel.”
The overlaps between franchises will go beyond the pages of the comics as each first print release will contain a code that can be used to unlock a bonus digital cosmetic item in Fortnite. A week after the release of each book, cosmetic items will be available in the Fortnite in-game item store.
