The Nintendo Switch online app was updated to version 2.0.0 this morning, bringing with it a host of changes that are absolutely for the better.

This is the most significant overhaul of the app since its release in 2017 and follows the recent mission and reward updates for Nintendo Switch Online.

Here are the patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo via App Store:

– Updated the overall design of the application.

– Now you can see which of your friends are online.

– You can change your online status settings.

– You can view your friend code.

– Other minor changes have also been implemented.

Add-ons like viewing your friend code (which you can now copy and paste instead of painstakingly typing in all 12 digits) or even seeing if your friends are online without turning on the switch are very simple, but they are first glance nice small updates.

But the new look looks stylish and is much more comfortable than the original design. The app has some neat, quirky ideas. But having to run voice chat through it for some games has always been tedious. Hopefully, the app will get more updates in the future, and more games will be added to the service.

Are you still using the app almost five years after it was first launched? Let us know about it in the comments.
