Pokémon Legends Arceus to Become a Web Anime This Year

The popular video game Pokémon Legends: Arceus is being adapted into an anime.

Announced through the game’s official japanese websiteThe series will debut online later this year. The official statement (translated by Google) confirms that the show will be “an original story set in the Sinnoh region” and “scheduled for an early summer 2022 release.”

The series will be produced by WIT Studio, which worked on Pokémon the Movie: Everyone’s Story as well as the hit anime show Attack on Titan.

Along with the announcement, The Pokémon Company revealed the upcoming anime series with a pretty cool image (below). We see the Trainer trudging through the snowy forest, looking back at the Pokémon that seems to be following him; the shadow of the Hisuan Zorua cast ominously on the snow behind them.

Described as an “online series”, it’s likely that the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus anime will debut on official Pokémon YouTube channel later this year.

This will be similar to last year’s release of Pokémon Evolutions, an eight-part series that explores the various regions of Pokémon during the game’s 25th anniversary.

Arceus takes the Pokémon series back in time, placing players in the history of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh, at a time when Pokémon was more feared than friendly.

IGN’s review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus described it as “an ambitious update that successfully revolutionizes the defining Pokémon capture and battle experience, but unfortunately takes place in a dull, empty, and at times tedious world.”

All confirmed Pokemon in scarlet and purple

Meanwhile, several major announcements were made on Pokémon Day 2022, including the upcoming Gen 9 games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as a new Daybreak update for Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
