Random: Sonic 2 Movie Poster Gives Fans The Major ‘Sonic 2sday’ Feels

Marketing for the future Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film was exceptionally strong as Paramount drew heavily on iconic imagery and nostalgia.

The latest poster goes on and on, touching on a nostalgic feeling we haven’t seen so far, especially for those who were close to the launch of the original Genesis sequel, which was known to launch on “Sonic 2sday” – Tuesday, 24 November. 1992.

This is a direct reference to the US and PAL box art of the original. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Sonic and Tails are featured in the foreground, and a giant image of Dr. Robotnik is squeezing the number 2, with an extra finger courtesy of Jim Carrey, of course. Eagle-eyed viewers can also spot Knuckles’ reflection in the big red 2.
