Throughout its history,

Nintendo has been incredibly protective of its intellectual property. Largely maintaining control and exclusivity across its platforms. except for the occasional arcade machine. This makes the “Zelda” trilogy on Philips CD-i especially exciting (the system also had Mario titles) as they are quirky. Almost cult classics despite their various issues. They are not canon, of course! These games came to mind today when we saw information about Nobelia. The new Philips CD-i game from TwBurn.   • Nobelia is a fast-paced open world adventure game that can be described as a cross between. The Legend of Zelda and Bomberman.
  • With over 30 unique levels, four power-ups and four different enemies, this is the biggest and most ambitious DIY game released for CD-i.
  • Includes an in-game timer with high scores to compete and run in three different categories.

Initially, it is sold on its Official site as a physical edition, with the assurance that it has been tested on several iterations of the CD-i hardware. It costs between 35 and 40 euros depending on the region, while US consumers can go to Good Deal Games where it is $34.95.

It’s always exciting to see new games designed for retro hardware, giving their own take on the classics and working within system limits. It also shows that the community of CD-i collectors and enthusiasts is alive and well.
