Some Trainers Are Worried About Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Returning To “Traditional” Catching Mechanics

Last week, the 9th generation of Pokémon, Pokémon Scarlet, and Pokémon Violet, was introduced to the Nintendo Switch

We’ve learned quite a bit about these games since the initial reveal, but there’s one detail that many coaches are still wondering about. While we know that the game will be “open world” and the battles will be similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceusit seems that the way Pokemon are caught may go back to the old “traditional” ways.

Attentive coaches noticed how the official website of the game as Scarlet and Violet mention how you can now experience the series’ “real joy” by “fighting wild Pokémon to catch them.” Here is the exact paragraph where it is mentioned:

“Various cities smoothly transition into the wilderness without borders. You will be able to see Pokémon from this region in the sky, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets – everywhere! The true joy of the Pokémon series – battling wild Pokémon to capture them – is now in an open-world game that players of all ages can enjoy.”

This caused a lot of discussion on social media.

While some players were not initially fans of the new catching mechanic in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, many have come to love it and believe it is the only way forward for the series.

We also liked the catching mechanic and called it “exciting” in our own Nintendo Life review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. How would you feel about future games returning to the old ways of catching Pokémon? Did you like the new mechanics in the latest entry? Leave your thoughts below.
