The Batman Spin-Off TV Show About Penguin Is Really Happening At HBO Max

The roadmap for proposed spin-offs of the Batman TV show is confusing at best.

 Now that the film has finally hit theaters, only one of them will actually become a reality. Hollywood Reporter reports that HBO Max has officially ordered Penguin, while the GCPD show has “evolved” into an Arkham Asylum story that has yet to be officially commissioned.

The Penguin show will, unsurprisingly, follow Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) as he works his way up to supposedly fill the newly created power vacuum at the top of Gotham City’s underworld. Batman director Matt Reeves will executive produce with Farrell himself. Lauren LeFrank (Agents of SHIELD, Chuck) will serve as showrunner.

In a statement, Farrell expressed his admiration for the project. “The world created by Matt Reeves for The Batman deserves a deeper look through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot.
