This RTX 3070-powered laptop with a 240Hz display is $500 off

Newegg got a pretty good deal on the Gigabyte A5 X1 15-inch gaming laptop for just $1299. Normally sold for $1,799, this laptop is now on sale for $500 off thanks to $300 Instant Savings and $200 off in the mail. The Gigabyte A5 X1 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor, 16GB of DDR RAM, and an RTX 3070 laptop GPU. This will give you solid 1080p performance with high enough frame rates if you want to game at max settings. You even have DisplayPort and mini-DP in case you’re hoping to connect that bad boy to your TV.

The five-pound laptop is about an inch and a half thick, so you shouldn’t have any trouble fitting it into your computer bag or backpack. The look and feel of the A5 X1 are pretty plain without an interesting design, but at least the keyboard is RGB in case you want to spice things up a bit.

A larger SSD would go a long way, so the best recommendation would be to upgrade to a larger SSD as 512GB fills up a lot faster than you think. I also used the Intel version of this laptop a while back, which I liked best, but the built-in webcam isn’t great, and I ended up using the USB webcam for work calls.

Even though the Gigabyte A5 X1 gaming laptop doesn’t win any style points, it does have a lot hidden under the hood for less than $1,500. Upgrade your SSD, and you’ll have a real contender.
