The upcoming TV adaptation of Twisted Metal is set to air on US streaming service Peacock.
This will turn the action series into a comedy series starring Winter Soldier actor Anthony Mackie (thanks, Deadline). He will also executive produce the show along with Will Arnett, Mark Foreman, and Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith.
The story will follow the character of Maki – a milkman who has no memory of his past – getting the “only opportunity” of a better life, but only if he can deliver a package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It looks like Sweet Tooth will also show up to make things difficult for him.
There aren’t many other details and release dates right now, but the TV show will definitely take place. Even though it was announced back in September, there was relatively little to hear. But now we have the premise, the star, and the good support of experienced writers and producers.
It’s been a long time since Twisted Metal saw the light of day and even longer since it came out on PC. It’s been ten years since Twisted Metal came out on the PlayStation 3, but 1996 was the last time the series was released on PC in the form of Twisted Metal 2. It would be nice to see the TV show revive games – I feel like a car. Fighting games have outlived their heyday for a bit, but I would love to see them come back. On PC this time around would be nice too, especially considering how many games PlayStation has ported recently.
