Until Dawn Creator to Reveal New Game, The Quarry Tomorrow

Supermassive Games,

The creator of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology has announced that it will be releasing a new game, The Quarry, tomorrow. In the teaser below, we see footage of a huge full moon, a story about a curious car accident, a mention of a summer camp, and a very 80s slasher logo. There is no mention of the ongoing Dark Pictures Anthology in the teaser, and we already know that the next game in the series is the series finale called The Devil in Me, so it looks like a brand new game.

Full disclosure will take place tomorrow, March 17th at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 4 pm UK (that’s March 18th at 3 am ET).

There are no details on platforms or release dates for The Quarry yet, but there is a hint that the game will arrive earlier than expected. The quarry has already been assessed by the ESRB (it will be rated M for mature), which usually happens when the development of the project is completed and close to completion. Supermassive trademarked The Quarry just a few weeks ago, which also lacked the Dark Pictures branding we’ve seen on many other game title filings.

IGN has given The Dark Pictures Anthology mixed reviews so far. We said that The Man from Medan was “good” and “offers a chilling horror adventure” with consequences that are directly related to the player’s actions. A Little Hope was “mediocre” with “boring characters and relatively pointless aftermath,” but we thought House of Ash was “great” and the studio’s best since Until Dawn came out in 2015.

Back in 2015

We called the interactive horror game Until Dawn a “joy-cheap homage to horror films”, praising “its robust system of choice and consequences and a keen eye for the most ridiculous horror tricks” in a 7.5 review.
