World Of Tanks Dev Let Go From Wargaming After Pro-Russia Comments

Studio World of Tanks Wargaming parted ways with developer Sergey Burkatovsky after he shared his opinion on social networks about the crisis in Ukraine. The press secretary confirmed Burkatovsky’s departure to PC gamer.

“Sergey Burkatovsky expressed his personal opinion on social networks, which categorically does not reflect the position of the company,” the press service said. “He was fired and is no longer with the company.”

In messages deleted after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, PC Gamer reports that Burkatovsky said he supported “the operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, DPR [Donetsk People’s Republic]and LNR [Luhansk People’s Republic].”

Wargaming is based in Belarus and has hundreds of employees in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The company recently donated 30 million hryvnia ($1 million) Ukrainian Red Cross.

The company told PC Gamer that “the safety of our employees is a top priority.” Wargaming is currently helping its workers find alternative housing and is providing early pay and other benefits.
