While this news isn’t particularly surprising, it could be upsetting. little trainers who hoped to “catch them all” to complete the National Pokédex. This would follow in the footsteps of Pokémon Sword and Shield, which eliminated the full National Dex.

There are currently around 900 pocket monsters registered for 2022, which means that Game Freak will likely pick certain “monsters” more and more from now on. Producer Junichi Masuda has also previously mentioned that having more Pokémon in games can create problems when it comes to combat balance.
